Add a website
How to add another website to your space — the three-step Create website wizard, which ad account to attach, installing its tracking script, and when to create a separate space instead.
A space can hold as many websites as you need. Each website you add gets its own tracking script, its own protection settings, its own automations and exclusions, and its own attached Google Ads account — fully isolated from the others. Adding one takes about three minutes.

This 3-minute tutorial covers the space-vs-website decision, the three-step wizard, installing the tracking script, what happens if you choose "Do this later", and switching between websites.
Website or space? Decide first
| Add a website when… | Create a space when… |
|---|---|
| It's another domain of the same business | It's a different client or business |
| The same team should see it | Different people need access, or you need separate team permissions |
| Billing should stay on this plan | It needs its own billing and plan |
| You want to switch between sites in one click | You want a hard wall — separate data, separate settings, separate invoices |
Agencies: create one space per client, and add websites inside a client's space only for that client's additional domains. Spaces separate billing and team access; websites within a space share both. See Space settings.
Before you start
- The space must have finished onboarding and have an active subscription. If it hasn't, the selector shows Complete the onboarding to add websites or a toast saying Activate subscription to add more websites — finish Choose a plan first.
- A Google Ads connection must already exist in the space. The wizard picks from connections listed under Space Settings → Connections. To connect a new Google login first, see Connect Google Ads.
- Have access to the new site's
<head>(or its Google Tag Manager container) so you can install tracking in step 2.
Open the wizard
The Create website dialog opens with a three-step progress bar: Website details → Tracking script → Done.
Step 1: Website details
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Website name | The domain, e.g. www.example.com. You can paste it with or without https:// — ClickFortify normalizes it. This becomes the website's URL and its default display name (change the display name later in Website settings). Required. |
| Connection | Which Google login to attach. Lists the OAuth and MCC connections already in this space. Required. |
| Ads account | The Google Ads customer account to attach to this website, from the accounts visible through that connection. Required. |
| PPC account (MCC child) | Appears only if the account you picked is a manager (MCC) account. Choose the specific client account underneath it. |
| Set tracking template (Recommended, on by default) | Adds ClickFortify's tracking template to the ad account so clicks are attributed to this website. Turn it off only if you manage the template yourself — see Tracking template override. |
| Set custom audience (on by default) | Creates the custom audience list ClickFortify syncs exclusions into. Turn it off only if you don't want audience-based exclusion on this site. |
Click Create website. The website is created immediately and the wizard moves to step 2.
One ad account, one website. Pick the ad account whose campaigns actually send traffic to this domain. If you attach the wrong one, delete the website from its Danger zone and re-add it — the ad account itself stays connected to the space.
If you see This MCC doesn't have any PPC accounts. Please try another account, the manager account you picked has no client accounts under it — choose a different connection or account.
Step 2: Install the tracking script
The dialog shows this website's unique snippet with a Copy button.
</head> tag on every page of the new site (or add it via Google Tag Manager — see Install via GTM).The dialog polls every few seconds. When it detects traffic, the status flips from Waiting for tracking events… to Tracking successfully connected and the Continue button unlocks. Use Check now to force a check.
Each website has its own snippet. Don't reuse the script from your first site — the new website's clicks would land in the wrong place. Always copy it from this dialog or from the new website's Tracking script page.
"Do this later" — you can skip installation and still finish the wizard. The website exists and is attached to its ad account, but protection doesn't start until the script is live. Come back any time via Tracking script in the sidebar (with the new website selected). See Do this later for what runs and what doesn't in the meantime.
Step 3: Done
You'll see Website added successfully. Click Go to dashboard — ClickFortify switches you to the new website so the dashboard, protection settings, and reports you see next belong to it.
If you skipped installation, the same screen offers an Install the tracking script button to jump back to step 2.
After adding the website
- Switch between websites using the space & website selector at the top of the sidebar. Everything in the app — dashboard, Click Traffic, Protection, Automations, Reports — is scoped to the selected website.
- Set the display name, currency and timezone in Website settings. Currency should match the attached ad account; timezone should match where your team works.
- Review the protection baseline in Protection settings — the new site starts with default settings, not a copy of your other site's.
- Recreate anything website-scoped you rely on: automations at Website scope, exclusions, and conversion rules don't carry over between websites.
- Confirm the connection with the 60-second check in Verify your Google Ads connection.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Add New Website shows Complete the onboarding to add websites | The space never finished the setup wizard | Click Complete Onboarding and finish it |
| Toast: Activate subscription to add more websites | The space has no active plan | Choose a plan or reactivate in Billing |
| Connection dropdown is empty | No Google Ads connection in this space yet | Add one under Space Settings → Connections, then reopen the wizard |
| Ads account dropdown is empty | The connection's Google login has no access to any ad accounts | Use a login with access, or re-authorize — see Syncing your ad account |
| Stuck on Waiting for tracking events… | Snippet not on the live site yet, or no page loads since | Publish, refresh a few pages, click Check now; see Auto-detection and troubleshooting |
